The Opaline Index is a read-only public archive. We do not require accounts to browse, and we do not sell or share visitor data with third parties. Any information you submit through our community channels is handled in line with the Opaline Outpost's privacy practices. We collect only what is necessary to keep the Opaline Index running and to understand which resources are most useful to readers.

Every entry in the Opaline Index is manually researched, curated, and managed on an external database designed by the Opaline Outpost, drawing only on publicly available information. Each entry is reviewed by a human curator before it is published. We prioritize primary sources, reputable publishers, and clearly-labeled opinion or creative work. Resources are checked for accuracy of attribution, working links, and relevance to the territory they are filed under. When errors are found, they are corrected promptly and transparently.

No AI agents, bots, crawlers, or scrapers were used to collect the data. Scraping is for nose pickers. (Ew!)

The Opaline Index exists to surface interdisciplinary ideas across memory, matter, mind, and meaning. We do not host content that promotes hate, harassment, misinformation intended to deceive, or material that exploits others. We favor work that engages with complexity in good faith, and we welcome emerging creators alongside established institutions.

Artificial intelligence may be used to assist with drafting summaries, organizing metadata, or translating content — never to generate the final editorial judgment of what belongs in the Opaline Index. Where AI assistance has materially shaped a description, it is reviewed and edited by a curator before publishing. We do not present AI-generated text as human authorship, and we do not use AI to fabricate sources or citations. Visual assets shown throughout the Opaline Index — icons, logos, header images, and other graphics — are not AI-generated; they are clip art purchased from independent artists and then edited or modified to fit our branding.

The Opaline Outpost's community and Zine — including newsletter subscriptions, comments, and member correspondence — are hosted and managed on Beehiiv through our main website at www.opalineoutpost.org. The Opaline Index itself is a read-only archive and does not collect subscriptions or host discussions directly.
